Meet the Principal

Principal: Mr. Jake Palmer

I am honored to serve as the principal of Fisher Grade School.

This will be my twelfth year in education, all of them taking place at Fisher Schools! I began my teaching career in third grade where I spent four wonderful years. From there, I spent three years serving as Dean of Students and High School Athletic Director. I am now entering my fifth year as principal at FGS. During my time at Fisher, I have coached both football and basketball. Go Bunnies! 🐰🥕

I grew up in Villa Grove, IL. While at VGHS, I participated in football, basketball, and track before making my way to Millikin University to study Elementary Education. In 2018, I received my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Illinois University. I'm currently pursuing my doctorate in Educational Policy, Organization & Leadership through the University of Illinois.

My wife, Rachel, and I moved to Fisher in January of 2021. Aside from putting up with me, she works as an ICU nurse at Carle. We have two cats, Hero & Mack, both of which like her better than me.

In my free time, I love to stay active and keep a busy schedule, spending time with family and friends. I try to do something physically active every day, whether it's doing a Crossfit workout or riding my Peloton. Rachel and I love to travel and try to do every chance we get.

Fisher is such a special place and I couldn't be prouder to be the grade school principal in this amazing community!
